Grand opening of Geiranger Skywalk – Dalsnibba
Saturday 27th of August, we celebrated the official opening of the new plateau on Dalsnibba. Many people came to celebrate with us even though it was cold and foggy the first part of the event.
The plateau was finished and ready to be used already in June. It was opened by the publication of the new name and cord cutting. This winter we had a naming competition for the new plateau and we received many suggestions. The jury, which consisted of the Board of Geiranger Skysslag, decided the name; “Geiranger Skywalk”. The creative sender of the name was Per Ivar Lied. He won a “Taste of Geiranger”, a basket consisting gift cards from Emobility (sponsored by them), Westerås Farm and spa at Hotel Union and other local made products. The Major of Stranda Kommune had the honor to cut the cord and officially open “Geiranger Skywalk”.
In addition, we had entertainment with historical lookback by Arild Flydal and song by Tone Oline Knivsflå, Magne Fremmerlid and Jenny Langlo. Three of the vintage cars used by Geiranger Skysslag was also seen at the event.
